Kickin' It Into High Gear!

Jingle Bells...Jingle Bells...
So if I were to tell you that Christmas is almost here, you'd probably tell me to lay off the egg nog and take a look at the calendar. True, it is only the beginning of November, but Christmas (and the end of fall semester) is coming up quicker than I expected! In three out of my four classes I have final papers and presentations due the last week of class. Now don't make fun of me, but I started working on two of those papers this weekend. I know...I know....working on homework that isn't due for another month and a half might sound crazy, but the key to a stress-free end of the semester is to get your stuff done ahead of time, so that is exactly what I am doing!

Not all homework
I didn't spend this entire weekend working on homework; Saturday was Fall Junior Visit day here at UST and I got to spend the morning vising with hundreds of high school juniors who are just starting their college search. It is so odd to think that by the time those juniors are freshman in college, I will be out of college for a whole year already! Gosh I'm old....

Looking beyond UST
Speaking of getting old, I started dabbling at the job search process this week. We all know that the economy isn't what it used to be, so I am trying to get an early start (are you sensing a pattern here?) by doing research on different job locations. The Career Development Center here at St. Thomas does a great job in helping students with this. Every week I get an email from them telling me all about the different career development opportunities that are on campus. That definitely makes my life a lot easier! Because you know...graduation will be here before you know it, but we have to get through Christmas first!

Later,
Shane

Hello Blog, Long Time No See

So it has been awhile since I've blogged. Sorry about that. This fall has been going by so fast I can hardly believe that midterms are about two weeks away! Of course, having snow on the ground really doesn't help matters much, but hey...it's Minnesota.

Last Saturday was homecoming and it was super fun. I started the day off by going to "Taste of Saints" on the upper quad. Lots of free give aways, food, games and cool music filled the quad. The weather may have been a little on the chilly side, but it was fun nonetheless. I got an awesome Tommie Bobble head! It is on my bookshelf as we speak. I like to think it's Tommie watching over me. Is that weird??? Ha ha.

The day got even better when the Tommie football team won and went 5-0! It was really fun to cheer the team on! This weekend they head to St. John's University for the annual Tommie-Johnnie game. Both teams are undefeated so the game is going to be nuts!

Classes are definitely starting to pick up. Last week I had three exams and two papers due. Got to love it. It is always hard for me to make the transition from summer to fall with class, but I was thinking the other day that a year from now, I won't be in class anymore. Crazy to think about that. I guess I should enjoy it while it lasts!
