J-Term Comes To An End

When I woke up this morning, I thought to myself, "The spring semester starts a week from today!" Where did January go? It was a great J-Term. My honors seminar was very interesting, I got to do some great volunteer work with Open Arms of Minnesota, and I got to make some money by working (maybe a little too much).

Even thought the spring semester starts in a week, it sure as heck doesn't feel like spring outside! I've lived in Minnesota all my life and I know I should be used to this kind of weather by now, but it has been down right freezing out there lately! I do enjoy the changing of the seasons though...I just wish this one would change a little quicker!

This weekend I went out with some friends to a cool Mexican restaurant close to campus called "La Cucaracha" and then watched the movie "Slumdog Millionaire." Good food and a good movie to follow. It was pretty fun. I was going to head over to Downtown St. Paul on Saturday to check out the ice sculptures at the Winter Carnival, but it was pretty cold out and writing a paper in my warm apartment sounded like a better way to spend the afternoon. (Can you believe that?? It was so cold I would rather write a paper! What's wrong with me...)

Well not much else to report on here at UST. Keep warm!

Back On Campus

The holidays are over...
...and that means I am back at St. Thomas. Being home for a couple weeks with no homework or class was great! I was able to just take it easy for a couple days. I came back to the Twin Cities on New Year's Eve to celebrate with some of my friends and today I am back to work.

J-Term
This J-Term I am going to be taking a couple honors seminars to fulfill some of my Aquinas Scholars requirements. The seminar I am taking is called "Community Action/Social Change". We are going to be working with an organization in Minneapolis called Open Arms of Minnesota. They deliver meals to people with AIDS, MS, breast cancer, and other diseases at no charge! It is a great organization. I worked with them last semester for my videography class and I am excited to work with them again.

I spent last J-Term in South Africa taking an intercultural communications class. It was about 80 degrees there everyday. I'm trying really hard not to think about it too much while I am here in freezing cold Minnesota!

Looking Ahead
Looking ahead to spring I will be taking some pretty cool classes. I will continue with my broadcast journalism major and take advanced broadcast reporting...I am REALLY exicted about that class! I'll also be taking my first science class since high school, Musical Acoustics. It's a physics class! Who would have thought. I recently picked up a Family Studies minor so my last two classes will be Marrage and Families and Family Communication. I started buying the books for the classes (not fun) today.

Spring semester will be here before I know it...and can you believe that it is 2009!?!?! I can't believe that I have been at St. Thomas for three years already! Next year I'll be GRADUATING! That's a scary thought...

Have a great weekend!
