Enjoying My Last Days At Home

Hey guys,

I've been enjoying the hot summer days, but soon they will be a thing of the past. I started packing up some stuff last week to move back to school. It is really hard to believe that in a week and a half I'll be back up at UST. It will be nice to be back though. I will get to see all my friends and catch up with people I haven't seen in awhile. I will also get to move into my new apartment which I am pretty excited about. Living on campus my first two years was great, but this will be a change I think I will enjoy.

Before I go back though, I still have some days of summer left! Last weekend I went up to Mankato to visit my girlfriend. She has many different jobs but one of them is working at Subway. While I was there the Mankato Baseball team had Subway night at the ballpark. We're talking free food and baseball. Can it get much better than that? I don't think so.

As my summer slowly ends, so does my internship at KELO-TV. It has been a great summer working for them. I have been able to do so many things and get such great experience. I don't know of any other station in the area that has a high quality internship like they do. I have been able to report on big stories, write portions of newscasts, and work on their website. I have also made a lot of great friends there and I hope to stay in contact with them after I move back. It will be bitter-sweet to leave there.

Well that's about all I know for now. My dog wants me to take her for a run so I better get on that.

Have a good week!

On The Downhill Slide

If it seems like summer is almost over...it is. In just four weeks I'll be moving back up to St. Paul before the fall semester begins again at UST. I'm living off campus this year and I am pretty excited to get all moved in to my apartment. I am going to be living on Grand Avenue, which is right next to campus, so it will be really convenient. I lived on campus for two years and loved it, but I wanted to try something different this year. Plus there are so many apartment buildings and houses right near campus that many students who live "off-campus" really only live across the street from campus.

My Fourth of July was great. I took a trip up to St. Paul with my girlfriend to take in the Tate of Minnesota festival in downtown St. Paul. The food was great, and the fireworks at the end were amazing. It was really a great time. I finally got to see fireworks on the Fourth of July!

Well not much else to talk about I guess. Keep cool, and remember, school will start before you know it!

Fourth of July

Hey guys, the Fourth of July is just around the corner and I can not wait. I actually managed to get today and tomorrow off from my internship, so I'll be able to enjoy the holiday instead of working. I am a fireworks nut so I am really looking forward to seeing some. It has been three years since I've seen fireworks on the Fourth of July. Three years ago I was in Switzerland over the 4th, two years ago I was in Washington, DC but there were so many people there we didn't get a chance to see the fireworks show, and last year I finally thought I would get to see some, but the display my family and I went to had technical difficulties and they had to cancel the show! I am long overdue for some big, loud, explosives!

Aside from the fireworks, the food is the second best part. Grilling out on the 4th is just about as important as the fireworks. All in all it is a great summer holiday. However, it always seems like summer is on the downhill slide after the Fourth. Oh well, in about a month I will be moving back up to UST for the fall semester. I am looking more and more forward to it each day. I think when it finally comes I'll be ready to move back.

Have a Happy 4th of July!

Shane
