Can I Get it All Done?

Hey guys,

It is hard to believe that three weeks from today I will be done with my second year of college! The end of the semester is quickly approaching and that means papers, projects and exams are pilling up. It hurts to think about all I have to get done before I pack up and head home for summer, but I know eventually everything will fall into place and work out for the best.

Today I registered for my fall classes. It was a tense moment because there was only one seat left in one of the classes I wanted to take. I kept logging into our registration system about every ten minutes this morning to see if there was still that one open seat. As it turns out when my registration time came around I got into the class. I was pretty relieved. Next semester I will be taking rhetorical criticism, videography, broadcast reporting, and political communication. All of them go towards my major so it should be a fun semester.

This Saturday is Spring Junior Visit Day here at UST. Lots of high school juniors will be on campus to check out St. Thomas. As a Tommie Ambassador, I get to sit on a student panel and (of course) give a tour to prospective families. Hopefully the weather cooperates with us!

Well I suppose I better get back to working on my papers. I'm debating whether or not to take a break and go for a run or just muddle through it and get it done. Hmmm...decisions....

Take it easy,
Shane

Spring Fever

Hey everyone. If you can't tell by the title of this blog, the weather is starting to get nicer, the days are getting longer, and if finally feels like spring is here. This past week was pretty busy, but I celebrated this weekend by doing some fun things around the Twin Cities.

The semester is quickly coming to a close, and that means papers, projects, and exams are becoming more frequent. I spent a lot of time this past week studying for tests, meeting with groups for presentations, and writing a research paper. The reference librarians here have become my new best friends. Well, I don't know if I'd go that far, but they have been extremely helpful in showing me good research tools for my paper. I didn't know so many databases and encyclopedias and books existed! I even was able to set up a one-on-one appointment with a librarian and she showed me a lot of quick and easy resources that cut my searching time in half...definitely a good thing!

Friday we taped the second Scope show of the semester. As always everyone did a great job. We have been having trouble getting them online this semester due to a new program, but if you click here you can see all of the shows we have done this school year, excluding the one we just taped on Friday.

Now to the fun part...the WEEKEND! Because it was so nice this weekend, I decided to take advantage of the weather. Saturday I went to the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden and Como Zoo. Both are really fun and, most importantly, FREE! Here's a picture of the famous "Spoon and Cherry" cherry.jpg

Today it was raining so we went to a Twins game. They lost, but it was fun anyway. We sat in the cheap seats, literally, and had some "interesting" neighbors...

Well that's about all for now. Talk to you later...

Shane
