I'm Back!
Moving Moving Moving
Hey everybody, if you can't tell from the title of this blog I am back at St. Thomas. I just got all my stuff organized and am blogging to you from my room here in Brady Hall. It is nice to be back, but there are still a lot of people who have to move in yet. I had to move in early because of Tommie Ambassador training. If you are a prospective student and you come to St. Thomas for a tour or visit, you will get to meet AT LEAST one Tommie Ambassador. We are the greeting crew for prospective students. We love to share our stories and answer any question you can think of. It will be nice to see some of my friends here back on campus later in the week.
For the rest of the week...
...I am going to do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Well, I may eat and sleep and occasionally walk around, but other than that I am going to take it easy. After working about 60 hours a week this summer I am ready for some sort of "vacation" before class actually starts. My on campus jobs start next week as well. On campus jobs at St. Thomas are definitely the way to go! They are so easy and convenient and the supervisors understand that you are a student first, employee second. That is the best part!
So long for now
Well if you have any questions you know where to find me. I think I am going to go grab some dinner and then...who knows what! Until next time.

Thoughts on moving back...and life in general.
T-minus one week
I guess this really snuck up on me, the whole moving back to school thing. I was talking with a bunch of my friends from here at home and a lot of them are starting class this week already! It really made me realize that soon I too will be heading back to class. I can remember last summer I think I was packed and ready to move by August 1st, now this year I haven't even gone school shopping yet! Oh well, the time will come and everything will be great.
From the newsroom
So if you have read any of my previous blogs you know that I am working at a TV station this summer, KELO-TV in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to be more exact. Working in a newsroom environment has made me look harder at current events and how people react to them. With the recent bridge collapse in Minneapolis and the even more recent floods in eastern Minnesota, it is great to know that there are people out there who are still willing to advance the common good and help others out when they are in need. St. Thomas tries to foster this ideal in every one of its students. The St. Thomas motto "Challenge Yourself, Change our World" gives students the challenge to go out and make the world a better place. The newsroom can be a heavy dose of reality sometimes, but even with all the bad news that seems to be going on right now, it is nice to know that there are still good people amongst all the bad events.
What CAN'T you get on a stick?
This Thursday starts the best days of summer, The Minnesota State Fair! I am planning to go next week so I will let you know how it goes. I love getting crazy food on a stick and watching WCCO do their live newscasts (journalism geek) not to mention getting the awesome UST fair bags!
Catch ya later!

It's almost time...
Summer is almost over
I am blogging to you today from the great city of Duluth, MN. I know you hear it over and over again, but summer goes by way too fast! In just a week and a half I will be moving back up to St. Thomas for the beginning of fall semester. I am both excited and nervous to start a new semester. It will be great to see familiar faces, and it will be even better to meet some new ones. This week I spent some time away from my jobs with my family here in Duluth. It was a great break from the hustle of working. A friend of mine from St. Thomas is from Duluth and she recommended lots of cool things to see and do.
Looking Ahead
So this fall I am going to be taking some really cool classes. I am a broadcast journalism major so a lot of the classes are 'hands on'. I am also a member of Campus Scope, St. Thomas' monthly television news magazine show, and can't wait for that to start up again. A great thing about activities at St. Thomas is that you get experience in your major, but you also meet some great friends who are interested in the same things you are.
Well that's all for now...when I get back home I have a week left of working, then it's packing, buying books, and moving back to UST!
