In a world where instant is not fast enough, it is no wonder text messaging is so popular. Who wants to wait for a phone call to be returned? Or for someone to receive and respond to an e-mail? The speed and efficiency of text messaging has infiltrated and revolutionized communication in all aspects of life, including the workplace. But it is not without problems.

The cost of staying warm

So far, 21 days in 2008 have recorded below-zero temperatures. That compares to a total of 18 days below zero recorded for all of 2007 in the Twin Cities, according to the National Weather Service. The average temperature in February was 14.5 degrees Fahrenheit, a drop of 5.2 degrees from normal. The frigid weather affects not only wardrobe choices and whether or not the car will start, but also larger issues like the price of home heating bills and energy consumption.

Minnesotans have endured a seemingly endless winter this season with near record-setting cold temperatures and dangerously bitter wind chills.
