Ask the Advisor

Dear Dr. Helpful,

I am graduating this spring semester, 2009 and will be attending the May commencement ceremony.

I am from France and my family is traveling here to see me graduate. I heard that students can carry their country’s flag into the graduation ceremony. Is this true? I would be proud to carry my country’s flag.

Regardez,
Stephan

Dear Stephan,

International students and citizens of other countries graduating in May who would like to carry their country's flag in the commencement procession should e-mail the Office of International Student Services no later than Friday, April 17.

Only one person per country and ceremony will be allowed to carry their country's flag. The first person to sign up from a country will be that country's flag bearer. For more information, contact OISS, (651) 962-6650, or stop by the office in Room 161, Murray-Herrick Campus Center.

Sincerely,
Dr. Helpful
