Hello! I am pleased to announce that the Twin Cities Chapter-National Black MBA Association, Inc has completed the redesign of our chapter website: www.nbmbaatc.org. The new website is designed to provide timely information on our national organization, local chapter and community activities.

Events:

2nd Annual Black History Month Heritage Gala

Date: Saturday, February 9
Hosted by: The University of St. Thomas' Office of Institutional Diversity
Time: 5:00-8:00 p.m. (reception begins at 5:00 p.m; program starts at 6:00 p.m)
Venue: Law School Schulze Grand Atrium

This year's theme is "Looking Back with Pleasure: Honoring the Gifts and Talents". The keynote speaker will be Steffan Johnson, a two-time UST alumnus, who is currently the CEO of a small medical supply and equipment company, Stratus Medical Group and President of the Twin Cities Chapter of the National Black MBA Association. Entertainment will be provided by T. Mychael Rambo and Thomasina Petrus.

Social Committee Chair

The 2008 Social Committee will take the lead in organizing at least (2) social/networking events throughout the calendar year. This committee will be led by (1) Chair who will faciliate all committee meetings. Committee member tasks include the overall planning and execution of these (2) events. College Awareness Day

The University of Minnesota invites you to participate in "Minneapolis I Know I Can College Awareness Day".

On Tuesday, February 19, 2008, 2,700 third graders attending Minneapolis public schools will participate in this first ever event. More than 200 volunteers will come together in classrooms to share the significance of making college attendance an aspiration.

Volunteers will read and discuss I Know I Can, a children's book that introduces college awareness in a context that young children can understand. They will define college, discuss benefits, and explain the pathway that students must take to turn their aspirations into a college degree.

In Celebration of Black History Month, the National Black MBA Association, Twin Cities Chapter cordially invites you to a night out at an award winning drama "The Piano Lesson" by August Wilson

This Pulitzer Prize winning drama is the story of a family haunted by the living legacy of American Slavery

Play Synopsis: The piano that sits in the salon of the Charles home is very valuable. For Bernice, it holds the spirit of her grandparents, sold away in exchange for it during slavery. For her brother, Boy Willie, it holds the key to his freedom from the burden of sharecropping for a meager wage. The struggle between the siblings over the symbolic and literal value of the piano escalates into a conflict that threatens to tear the family apart.
